Winnie the Pooh Cake

I love the story and adore each and every character. I would probably make all of them if only the cake was larger and comfortable for everyone.

Inside, there is a rich chocolate cake, moistened with kirsch syrup, filled with strawberry jam and kirsch-flavored Swiss buttercream. The figures are molded from gum paste. The only thing inedible is a bee-holding wire.

  27. this is outstanding, it takes lot of effort for such fineness, great work, u r an inspiration

  28. Thank you, everyone, for your wonderful comments! I greatly appreciate it!

Miriam, the bee is the easiest part :) You just roll a small amount of yellow gum paste into a tiny sausage-kind-of shape, glue a couple of black stripes (very thinly rolled and cut gum paste), glue microscopic white eyes (dot them with black food color). Moisten a wire with egg white (I use pasteurized) and insert into the body. For the wings, roll equal tiny amount of white gum paste into tear shapes, flatten them and attach to the body with a bit of sugar glue. Dry.

Anechka, thank you very much for the feedback! It was a pleasure working on a cake for such a charming little gentleman :) I wish Maksim all the best!

Maybe, thank you. Smoothly iced cake is a key to a smooth fondant.

  48. Hi, I love this cake. Its my sons birthday soon and ive thought it over and over and over. i am going to try copy your cake (if you dont mind) Im not actually worried about the figures cause im arty but im worried about the actual cake!lol Everyone in the family loves plain sponge with whipped cream but how to i cover it with icing? whipped cream with make the icing slide everywhere, right?Oh gosh i need you help Vera. thanks

  49. Shanelle, you can’t wrap in fondant a whipped cream-frosted cake. What you can do is to pipe a buttercream “dam” around the edge first, and then fill the space inside with the whipped cream. The cake has to be refrigerated all the time. Set the fridge to low, so the fondant wouldn’t suffer much.

  50. Thats great, thank you for letting me know. Ill take a photo and send it on to you once its done. wish me luck!

    Carla, I’m planning to :)

  57. In response to the question Emma asked and about u selling the characters. Hoe much would u charge for four characters? Pooh, tigger, piglet, and Eeyore ?

  58. Hi, my name is kathia and I own a cake design shop. One of my clients just email me a picture of this cake, she wants me to make a replica of it. I told her that I couldn’t do that but I could do something similar. I just Google the cake because I didn’t want to use the cake as an inspiration without find the cake designer who made it. When I post the picture I will provide a direct link to your site and give you proper credit for it.

  59. hi,
    are you selling these?
