Winnie the Pooh Cake

I love the story and adore each and every character. I would probably make all of them if only the cake was larger and comfortable for everyone.

Inside, there is a rich chocolate cake, moistened with kirsch syrup, filled with strawberry jam and kirsch-flavored Swiss buttercream. The figures are molded from gum paste. The only thing inedible is a bee-holding wire.

  27. this is outstanding, it takes lot of effort for such fineness, great work, u r an inspiration

  28. Thank you, everyone, for your wonderful comments! I greatly appreciate it!

Miriam, the bee is the easiest part :) You just roll a small amount of yellow gum paste into a tiny sausage-kind-of shape, glue a couple of black stripes (very thinly rolled and cut gum paste), glue microscopic white eyes (dot them with black food color). Moisten a wire with egg white (I use pasteurized) and insert into the body. For the wings, roll equal tiny amount of white gum paste into tear shapes, flatten them and attach to the body with a bit of sugar glue. Dry.

Anechka, thank you very much for the feedback! It was a pleasure working on a cake for such a charming little gentleman :) I wish Maksim all the best!

Maybe, thank you. Smoothly iced cake is a key to a smooth fondant.
